An Oxygen flowmeter is a device that measures the flow of Oxygen from oxygen’s dispensing unit to the user/inhaler of the oxygen. It will either be hooked up to a region of a tank of oxygen, or it will be a standalone device that measures the flow from a gas tank. This half is crucial on any oxygen-dispensing device as it provides a quantitative measurement of the flow of gas moving to the user or patient through the system. Usually, hand-held meters are used for spot checks to confirm that O2 regulator flow meters are functioning properly. Discrepancies within the O2 flow meter reading scan indicate issues with the regulator or leaks inside the O2 system. Since a run-down regulator valve provides a patient or dependent user an incorrect quantity of O2, observation the O2 flow meter readouts is a very important a part of using O2.

Oxygen flow meters always measure the gas flow in liters per minute (Lpm). Most O2 flow meters measure from 0-15 Lpm if they're measuring the flow from a breathing apparatus tank or O2 concentrator. These tools are designed to supply O2 to a patient who’s breathing primarily on his own.
